If your property is off grid or you are located on a caravan park or residential park, chances are you will be choosing either an LPG or Oil boiler to heat your home.
LPG boilers are around 30% more efficient than burning solid fuels to heat your home and therefore you would be doing your bit to help make the environment a little bit cleaner. LPG boilers can reach up to 93% efficiency which means that you will only be wasting 7 pence in the pound compared to around 30 pence in the pound with burning solid fuels.
LPG is a liquified gas that is stored in a bulk tank on your property and supplies the boiler the energy to heat your home. As with mains gas, LPG is a very efficient fuel and when used with a new high efficiency condensing boiler, it could save you money on your heating bills.
Some manufacturers offer boilers with a conversion kit that allows you to use LPG while other manufacturers offer LPG boilers straight out of the box ready to install without any conversion. LPG has the lowest carbon emissions of any fossil fuels available to rural
properties, so can help lower the properties carbon footprint as well as reduce overall
energy costs.
LPG boilers are slightly cheaper to purchase than natural gas boilers. They start at around £500 for the budget models and up to around the £2500 range for the top models. There is a wide variety of LPG boilers on offer in the UK, it all boils down to personal preference and budget as to which model you might choose. Maintenance costs for LPG boiler servicing or repairs is similar to that of natural gas boilers.

LPG boilers are available as a combi boiler which is heating and hot water in the same unit.
Hot water has priority with a combi boiler. If you have a larger home with a higher hot
water demand, you would be better choosing a system boiler with a hot water cylinder as
this system generally offers a better flow from the hot taps.
